The CRSES leads in solar and wind technology research through strategic funding and the DSTI Hub-and-Spoke initiative, building local expertise and industry partnerships for impactful commercialization.

Research Overview

In conjunction with partner universities, the CRSES has, for many years, secured funding and coordinated efforts to advance solar and wind technology research and development. The DSTI Hub-and-Spoke initiative has been a flagship programme to develop local expertise in technology development in solar and wind energy, with an increasing focus on industry partnerships and technology commercialization.

The research and technology development efforts focus on renewable energy generation, integration, education, and demonstration. Focus areas include solar thermal energy collectors, storage, and systems; solar photovoltaic modules and fabrication; wind energy technologies and system integration. The research spans electricity generation capacity and capabilities, system integration technologies, industrialization and local manufacturing opportunities, and industrial decarbonization.
